IT&E donates hotspot devices and 4G LTE data to UOG students

IT&E donated 30 mobile hotspot devices with 4G LTE data service to the University of Guam so students who do not have internet access can complete online coursework with high speed connectivity. UOG has recently announced all classes have been transitioned into an online or alternative format for the rest of the semester.

UOG will be distributing the devices to eligible students.

“Educating and preparing the future leaders of our community is important to us, and IT&E is proud to be working with the University of Guam to help make distance learning more accessible during this COVID-19 crisis.”

Jim Oehlerking, CEO of IT&E

“Our community partners continue to come through during our island’s time of need. We thank IT&E for their generous donation and being a big part of the success of many of our students this semester.”

Thomas Krise, President of University of Guam

“Moving to an online format for our classes presents some challenges for some of our students. With IT&E’s mobile hotspot devices and data service, for many of our students, high-speed connectivity will not be one of those challenges. Si Yu'os Ma'åse' to IT&E for their support.”

Anita Borja Enriquez,  Senior Vice President & Provost of University of Guam

The 30 devices and three months of free services for students have a retail value of $12,000.

IT&E remains committed to helping flatten the curve of the spread of COVID-19. Strict sanitization and social distancing procedures are in place at its open locations in Harmon and AAFES.  IT&E launched the Stay Home Challenge to further encourage residents to stay home and to share photos and videos of how they are social distancing for a chance to win the latest Samsung device. Details can be found on IT&E’s social media pages.

In addition, IT&E has implemented several relief measures for its subscribers. On April 5, 2020, IT&E announced it is removing data caps for its subscribers until April 30, 2020. In addition, IT&E has pushed back the due date for bills, so that subscribers can pay anytime during the month without late fees.
